Descriptions of columns found in Dramascope:

  •  Government Affairs/NCCATA: Covers the latest legislative actions that affect the creative arts therapies. Knowledge is power, therefore, information found in these two reports is invaluable to drama therapists.

  • Education: Covers all of the issues related to education in the field of drama therapy. Special focus is given to questions posed to the Education Chair by members.

  • Standards and Ethics: Keeps members apprised of issues related to standards and ethical principles set by NADT.

  • Conference Committee: Current information about upcoming national NADT conferences is addressed in this report. Highlights of pre-conference and conference offerings, key note speakers, and evening activities/performances are detailed.

  • Registry Committee: Information pertinent to drama therapists applying for registration is covered in this report. A report is given on the status of applications received during each review period.

  • Membership: Summarizes membership demographics, covers membership renewal information and details other important information members need to know.

  • Regional reports: NADT is divided into four regions (West, Central, East, and Canada). Each regional representative works hard to cover the news happening in their respective regions. Their reports highlight the activities of drama therapists, chapter meetings, mini-conferences and training opportunities, and other news of interest to members.

  • Student news: Focuses on issues of importance to students in drama therapy. This column is a great networking opportunity for student members.

  • International news: This column is devoted to sharing what is happening in the field of drama therapy outside of the U.S. Articles written by drama therapists who are working abroad are featured.

    • Playwright’s Corner: Spotlights the work of drama therapists who have a particular interest in playwriting.

    • Web News: This column familiarizes members with on-line terminology and offerings. Provides helpful hints in accessing information on-line.

    • Employment Opportunities for Drama Therapists: Highlights jobs in which drama therapy could be a critical piece but ones which are not currently employing a drama therapist.

    • Research in Drama Therapy: This section is devoted to sharing research, outcome studies, and graduate projects currently being done in the field of drama therapy.

    • Drama Therapy in Action: Features the many places that drama therapists are employed and demonstrates how drama therapy can be used in a variety of settings; in essence: who we are and what we do.

    • Resources for Drama Therapists: Features a variety of materials, games, etc. that drama therapists have found helpful in their work. A useful section for both new drama therapists who are building their repertoire of ideas and for those who are experienced but would like a new idea.

    • Special Features: Accentuates special occasions and notable individuals in the field of drama therapy

    • Book reviews: Written reviews of newly published books related to the creative arts therapies, particularly drama therapy.

    • Networking Theme: The networking theme will be featured in each September issue and will driven by the theme of the fall conference.

    • Calendar of Events: Listings of conferences, training opportunities, and special events happening around the country and abroad which may be of interest to drama therapists.

    • Announcements and Acknowledgments: Communicates job openings in drama therapy, awards received, and important deadlines to note and recognizes individuals, agencies, businesses and others who demonstrate continuous support of drama therapy and NADT.

    We welcome your contributions.
     
    Please write in a clear, concise, and focused manner.  
    All submissions may be edited at the discretion of the editors.
    Include biographical information: full name and credentials and address.

    It is preferred that articles be submitted in an electronic format. Handwritten articles are not accepted.

    Articles with more than 500 words MUST be submitted electronically on disk or as an email attachment.  

    Submit articles by snail mail or email.

    Articles will not be accepted after deadline.

    Non-electronic, or Hard Copy Format (not preferred)

    • Articles must be submitted in duplicate, double-spaced, and paginated. 

     Electronic Format (recommended)

    • On disk or by email, submit in one of the following formats -- text,
      rich text, ASCII, Word document or text pasted into the body of the email. 

News of Special Interest

 

DRAMASCOPE is one of the main communication tools for drama therapists and others in the helping professions who are members of NADT. Topics relevant to the field of drama therapy and important issues affecting creative arts therapists, especially drama therapists, are covered in each issue by NADT committee chairs and members.
Government Affairs/NCCATA: Covers the latest legislative actions that affect the creative arts therapies. Knowledge is power, therefore, information found in these two reports is invaluable to drama therapists.
  The Dramascope is published and emailed three times a year and is included FREE with membership in NADT. If you are interested in a stand-alone subscription, you can order on the "Membership Form" under "Join Us" in the Membership Menu.
